How it works

From tap to door, in three minutes flat.

Parcels and rides, one app across South Africa. Here's exactly how each trip moves, and how the money flows.

If you're ordering

Customer flow.

Browse, pay, track, rate. The whole loop lives in one tab in the Kazi app.

  1. 01

    Sign in, pick a service

Sign in with phone OTP, Google or email. Then choose Send a parcel or Get a ride, and the app walks you through pickup, drop-off, and where you're headed.

  2. 02

    Confirm the price

You always see the full price before you confirm, no hidden fees, no surge surprises. Parcels are priced by distance, and rides are metered by distance and time, with the fare shown upfront. The minimum on any trip is R40.

  3. 03

    Pay the driver in cash

Kazi is cash only today. You pay the driver when the trip or the delivery is complete, at the price you were shown before you confirmed. There is no card checkout, so Kazi holds no card details and no customer funds.

  4. 04

    Watch your driver live

As soon as a driver accepts, you see their name, photo, vehicle and live GPS position. Message or call in-app.

  5. 05

    Proof on arrival

For deliveries, the driver takes a photo on hand-over (or on placement at the door for parcels), saved to your history with timestamp + GPS. For rides, the trip closes when you reach your destination.

  6. 06

    Rate and tip

Optional. Tips are 100% to the driver, Kazi takes nothing. Ratings keep the platform clean.

Where the money goes

Every rand, accounted for.

No black-box pricing. Here is a sample R150 trip: what the driver keeps, what Kazi takes, and when each of them gets it.

R150
A sample fare, quoted in the app before you confirm. Payment is cash, handed to the driver when the trip or the delivery is done. Kazi never holds your money because it never touches it.
  • Driver keeps 80%
In their hand at the drop-off, before they drive away
    R120.00
  • Kazi commission, 20%
Settled by the driver afterwards. Funds dispatch, support, vetting and compliance
    R30.00
  • Tips
Every rand goes to the driver. Kazi takes nothing from a tip
    100%
  • Booking fee, card fee
The booking fee is part of the fare you are quoted, never added on top. No card fee, because there is no card
    Included

Figures are illustrative; your fare is quoted before you confirm and itemised on the receipt. The minimum fare on a trip is R40. If an electronic payment method is introduced we will name the provider on this page before it goes live. See Refund & Dispute Policy for what happens on a refund.

Driver flow

Go online, accept, deliver, repeat.

  1. 01
    Sign up & verify

ID, licence, vehicle photos, police clearance, bank account. Approval typically 7 to 14 working days.

  2. 02
    Go online when you want

No minimum hours, no shift politics. Toggle online, offers start coming.

  3. 03
    Accept the offer

Pickup, drop-off and payout are shown up front. An accept rate below 60% triggers a review.

  4. 04
    Paid on the spot

80% of every fare plus 100% of every tip, collected in cash on completion, so the money is in your hand before you drive away. You settle Kazi's 20% afterwards.

Safety & compliance

What stops things going sideways.

12-hour shift cap

Backend-enforced. Drivers can't override it. 6-hour minimum rest before going back online.

Photo + GPS evidence

Every delivery has a photo and a GPS trace. Disputes resolve on facts, not he-said-she-said.

Ongoing driver review

Drop below 4.5 rating over 100 trips, or hit our safety/conduct triggers, and you're reviewed.

No card data on Kazi

Cash only, so there is no card number to hold in the first place. PCI out of scope by design.
