Right now every trip is cash, collected by you at the drop-off, the money is in your hand before you drive away, and you settle Kazi’s share afterwards. Card payments and bank settlement are coming; we will tell you before anything changes.

No PAYE deducted, you're an independent contractor. We provide a year-end statement for SARS; you handle the rest.
You keep 80% of every fare, on deliveries and on e-hailing rides alike. Kazi’s commission is 20%, and nothing else comes off your share: no booking-fee cut, no payment-processing cut. The rider’s quoted fare includes a small booking fee, and your 80% is worked out on that whole fare.

You collect the fare in cash at the drop-off, so your share never passes through us, there is nothing to wait for and nothing to chase. Kazi’s commission is settled separately, and every trip is itemised in your Earnings screen.

To deliver parcels, you'll need these six. Kazi is open to South African citizens and foreign nationals with the right to work, only your identity document differs. We run our own background check, so you don't need to bring a police clearance. Review takes 7 to 14 working days.
Applying is free, there's no vetting fee. Submit your documents and our team reviews everything, usually within 7 to 14 working days. We'll email you the outcome, and approved drivers go live on the Kazi Driver app.
- 01Proof of identity
South African: green ID book or smart ID card (both sides). Foreign national: valid passport + a valid work permit, permanent-residence permit, or asylum/refugee permit endorsed with the right to work.
- 02Valid driver's licence
Code A/A1 for a motorcycle, Code B for a car. Front + back.
- 03Vehicle photo & number plate
A clear photo of your vehicle with the plate visible. Roadworthy and insured (third-party minimum).
- 04Proof of address
Utility bill or bank statement < 3 months old, in your name.
- 05Bank account in your name
So Kazi can settle anything owed to you by EFT, and so your identity checks out. Stamped account-confirmation letter from your bank.
- 06Selfie / profile photo
Clear and front-facing, we match it to your ID to keep everyone safe.
Want to carry passengers instead?
E-hailing is a separate application from delivery driving. On top of the standard driver documents (proof of identity, SA ID or passport with the right to work, licence, proof of address, bank confirmation and a selfie), you upload this extra pack of regulated documents required by law to carry passengers. You choose your tier, Standard, Comfort or VIP, based on your vehicle and class.
Submitting these documents does not guarantee approval. All passenger-carrying authorisations are governed by the relevant authorities; Kazi reviews each application against the applicable rules.
- Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
Valid PrDP endorsed for passengers, required to carry fare-paying riders.
- Valid driver's licence
Current and unrestricted for the vehicle class you intend to drive.
- E-hailing operating licence (NLTA)
Operating licence issued under the National Land Transport Act for e-hailing.
- Roadworthy certificate
A valid roadworthy for your vehicle, mandatory to carry fare-paying passengers.
- Passenger liability insurance
Cover for the passengers you carry, in addition to your standard vehicle insurance.

Make, model, class and plates, we match your car to a tier: Standard, Comfort or VIP.

Rules that exist for you.
12-hour shift cap
Backend-enforced. After 12 hours you go offline for 6 hours of rest. We can't override it, neither can you.
SOS button
Long-press to dial SAPS 10111 + ping Kazi support with your live location + last 5 minutes of GPS.
Verified passengers
Nobody can request a ride without a verified profile photo. You see that face on your pickup card before you accept.
Zero tolerance
Alcohol or drugs on duty = immediate termination. Customer safety is the floor, not the ceiling.
